Antonio Conte praised his players for an “impeccable tournament” but insisted they’re “not even close to being ready” to command Italian football.
Conte emphasized that only winners are remembered in cup finals, citing Napoli’s loss to Inter in the Supercoppa Final two years ago as an example. He highlighted his team’s determination to win, drawing from his own experiences as a player and coach.
Neres’ performance was instrumental in Napoli’s success, scoring both goals in the final. Conte praised his team’s work ethic and tactical understanding, saying, “Our job as a coach is to increase the knowledge of a player and make him stronger.”
Despite winning the Scudetto and Supercoppa, Conte remains humble, stating, “We won the title last season with a very reduced squad, we introduced many new players this summer, and are therefore not at all ready to be in a commanding position.”
Conte also praised Bologna for their strong performance, saying, “They are real protagonists of Italian football now.”
Napoli’s president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, encouraged fans to “dream away” after the win, highlighting the team’s success under Conte’s leadership.
