Neymar has undergone successful arthroscopic surgery on his knee, aiming to recover in time for Brazil’s World Cup squad selection for the 2026 tournament.

Neymar has undergone a successful arthroscopic surgery to treat a medial meniscus injury. The 33-year-old winger, who plays for Santos, is hoping to make a comeback in time to earn a spot in Brazil’s squad for the upcoming World Cup.

The surgery was performed by Dr. Rodrigo Lasmar, the Brazilian national team’s doctor, and Santos announced that the procedure was a success. Neymar is currently recovering and is expected to be out for up to a month.

Neymar’s injury has been a major concern for Brazil football fans, as he is the team’s leading goalscorer with 79 goals. He has not featured for the national team since 2023 due to a succession of injuries, and his participation in the World Cup is uncertain.

Brazil’s head coach, Carlo Ancelotti, has emphasized the importance of Neymar’s fitness for the World Cup squad. The tournament will take place in Canada, Mexico, and the United States from June 11 to July 19, 2026, and Brazil is in Group C with Scotland, Morocco, and Haiti.
