St. James’ Park was livid as Chelsea and Newcastle played out a dramatic 2-2 draw. 

Chelsea and Newcastle set the ball rolling in the Premier League this weekend and they set the bar high.

Newcastle kicked off the game in dogged fashion, not giving Chelsea any space. Chelsea were shell shocked for the first couple of minutes as Newcastle were relentless in their press.

Chelsea paid the price as they were behind four minutes in courtesy of a close range finish from Woltemade. Chelsea were unable to get a hold of the game and they were punished again as Woltemade got a brace after deftly putting the ball past Robert Sanchez.

Chelsea needed a big reaction in the second half and they came out with a different energy. Reece James scored a stupendous free-kick to make it 2-1.

Chelsea kept pressing and a moment of brilliance from Joao Pedro made it 2-2.

Both teams threw everything at the game looking but missed chances at both ends saw the game end in a 2-2 draw. Huge relief for Maresca as his team came back from 2-0 down to make it 2-2
