Crystal Palace secured a comfortable 3-0 win over Shelbourne in the UEFA Conference League, putting them within one point of a place in the top eight and the round of 16.
Crystal Palace made light work of Shelbourne, cruising to a 3-0 victory in the UEFA Conference League at Dublin’s Tallaght Stadium.
The visitors adapted well to the testing conditions and took the lead just 11 minutes into the game, with Christantus Uche scoring his first goal for the club.
The hosts had an early chance to equalize, but Marc Guehi was unable to capitalize on a long throw from Chris Richards. Palace continued to press, and they scored their second goal in the 25th minute, with Eddie Nketiah converting after the ball had hit the post.
The visitors were comfortably on top, and they added to their lead in the 37th minute through Yeremy Pino, who effortlessly glided up the pitch and smashed his shot into the bottom corner.
Palace’s dominance was evident, and they continued to create chances, but Shelbourne’s goalkeeper Wessel Speel made some impressive saves to keep the score at 3-0.
The second half saw Palace make three substitutions, but they continued to control the game. Speel was again called upon to make a crucial save, this time from Nketiah, and the visitors were content to see out the game.
The win takes Palace ninth in the table, and they are now within one point of a place in the top eight and the round of 16. Shelbourne, on the other hand, remain 34th with one point and no goals to their name.
The match also saw 17-year-old Benji Casey make his senior debut for Palace, coming on as a substitute for Justin Devenny, who went off injured.
Crystal Palace’s next game in the UECL will be against Strasbourg, and they will be looking to continue their winning streak and secure a place in the round of 16.
