Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta hailed Noni Madueke’s impressive performance after scoring twice in a 3-0 Champions League win over Club Brugge.
Noni Madueke’s impressive performance in Arsenal’s 3-0 Champions League win over Club Brugge has earned praise from manager Mikel Arteta.
Madueke opened the scoring in the 25th minute with a thunderous strike, and Arteta praised his individual quality and ability to take on players. “Unbelievable goal. When you talk about individual quality and individual action and magic moments, that’s it,” Arteta said.
The 23-year-old then extended Arsenal’s lead in the second half with a header from close range, and Arteta was impressed by his overall performance. Madueke has now scored three times in two Champions League matches, and Arteta believes he brings a different quality to the team.
Madueke started on the right flank, a position usually occupied by Bukayo Saka, and Arteta said some healthy competition between the two would benefit both players. “They both have different qualities as well, and it’s great because we’re going to need them,” Arteta added.
Arteta emphasized the importance of consistency, saying Arsenal needs to maintain this level of performance over the next few games. “It’s not a game, it’s two games, three games. It’s when you do 10 games in a row every three days and that’s the level that we have to hit,” he said.
The win puts Arsenal in a strong position, and they next host Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.
