Decision follows the winger’s outburst against the manager and the club

The Liverpool squad will travel without Mohamed Salah to face Inter Milan in the Champions League on Tuesday, following the forward’s sensational criticism of the club and head coach Arne Slot.

Salah gave a blunt interview at Elland Road after the match against Leeds on Saturday in which he questioned Slot’s decision to bench him for three games.

The player took part in training with the rest of the squad at the AXA Training Centre on Monday, but he was informed shortly afterwards that he would not be part of the group flying to Italy.

According to sources close to the situation, the decision was made by the club, but after consulting Slot and with his full support.

It is unclear whether Salah will be in the squad for the Premier League game against Brighton at the weekend, although this looks unlikely.

The game against the Seagulls will be Liverpool’s last game before Salah joins Egypt for the Africa Cup of Nations. His future might be decided once that competition is over.
