Borussia Dortmund wants to make Aaron Anselmino’s loan permanent, with the young centre-back impressing since joining the Bundesliga club on loan from Chelsea.
The partnership between Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund continues to flourish, with a steady flow of players moving between Stamford Bridge and the Westfalenstadion. The latest development in this partnership is Borussia Dortmund’s interest in making Aaron Anselmino’s loan permanent.
Anselmino, a 20-year-old Argentine centre-back, joined Chelsea from Boca Juniors in 2024 and made his Blues debut at the Club World Cup before heading to Germany on a season-long loan with no buy clause included.
After an early injury setback, Anselmino has come roaring back, becoming a key part of Dortmund’s defence and even earning praise from Niko Kovač, who labelled him “world-class”. The youngster scored his first Bundesliga goal at the weekend in a 2-1 win over Bayer Leverkusen, further cementing his place in the team.
Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl has confirmed that the club is eager to turn Anselmino’s loan into a permanent transfer. “I will have to pick up the phone in the next few days and will certainly call them,” Kehl said. “We hope that Aarón will stay on, of course. We have a very good connection with Chelsea”.
Reports suggest that Dortmund is willing to pay around £15 million to secure Anselmino’s transfer from Chelsea. Given Anselmino’s rapid development and impressive form, Chelsea may be convinced that he’s a talent worth keeping firmly within their long-term plans.
