Barcelona 3-1 Deportivo Alaves: Hansi Flick’s side recover from midweek defeat and keep pressure on Real Madrid

Dani Olmo scored twice to help Barcelona come from behind and beat Alaves 3-1 on Saturday.

Hansi Flick’s side found themselves chasing the game from the very first minute after Pablo Ibanez capitalised on a poorly defended corner to put the visitors ahead.

The early goal was concerning in the context of a difficult week when Barcelona were mauled 3-0 by Chelsea in the Champions League.

However, within eight minutes Lamine Yamal pulled Barcelona level, arriving at the far post to rifle a finish high into the net after good team work down the right.

The home side continued to assert their control and then went ahead before the half-hour. Raphinha, who was starting for the first time since September, put in a low cross that Dani Olmo met at the far post and dispatched.

Alaves were dangerous on the counter and had some good moments, but Barcelona created the clearer openings as the game wore on.

The game remained in contention until Olmo combined neatly with Yamal in stoppage time and slotted past Sivera to finally subdue Alaves.
