Bayern’s sporting director Christoph Freund hints the club could dip into the January market.
Christoph Freund, Bayern Munich’s sporting director, made it clear that the club isn’t closing the door on winter signings. “We’ve learned in football to never rule anything out completely,” he said, keeping the January window on the radar even if the squad looks solid.
Freund stressed the team is already well‑equipped, but he added that key players are on the verge of coming back. Hiroki Itō is slated to return from injury, Alphonso Davies is also expected to be fit soon, and Jamal Musiala is edging closer to a comeback after his long‑term rehab.
He practically joked that those comebacks could count as the club’s “winter signings,” suggesting if those three return, Bayern would be in an excellent shape for the second half of the season.
The conversation also drifted to Jonah Kusi‑Asare, the young striker whose loan at Fulham hasn’t taken off. Coach Marco Silva openly admitted the player wasn’t ready for the Premier League, hinting at a possible early termination of the loan in January.
Yet, Freund didn’t confirm any concrete moves. The club’s current stance is to focus on contract extensions and internal recoveries rather than rush into new deals.
Overall, Bayern seem content with their roster but stay flexible and are ready to act if a genuine opportunity or unexpected need arises during the winter window.
