Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich is optimistic about featuring against Arsenal in the Champions League, having made significant progress in his recovery from a capsule injury.

Bayern Munich has received a boost ahead of their Champions League clash with Arsenal, as central midfielder Joshua Kimmich is optimistic about returning to action.

Kimmich had been resting since sustaining a capsule injury in his right ankle during the international break, but he’s now making good progress.

The 30-year-old midfielder was rested for Bayern’s 6-2 win over SC Freiburg on Saturday, with coach Vincent Kompany deciding to err on the side of caution. However, Kimmich sounded upbeat about his chances of playing against Arsenal, saying, “I’m getting better”.

When asked if he’d be able to play with tape on his ankle, Kimmich responded firmly: “Definitely with it!”

Both Bayern and Arsenal have been in excellent form, winning all four of their league-phase matches in the Champions League so far this season. The two teams are currently joint-top of the table, with Bayern ahead on goals scored.
