Club aware of interest in striker and several other first-team players
Crystal Palace have opened discussions with striker Jean-Philippe Mateta over a new contract. The Frenchman’s current deal runs until 2026.
Mateta has been one of the Premier League’s most productive forwards this season, scoring six goals in 11 league appearances, a continuation from last season where finished with 14 in 37 appearances.
Since joining Palace in 2021, the 28-year-old has scored 54 goals in 171 matches across all competitions. His performances last season helped the club win their first-ever major trophy when they beat Manchester City at Wembley to claim the FA Cup.
Palace are aware that Mateta’s form has attracted attention and are eager to keep him and protect his value.
The club also acknowledge that there is interest around several other first-team players, including defender Marc Guehi, midfielder Adam Wharton and wing-back Daniel Munoz.
Guehi is currently being targeted by Liverpool, with his contract set to run out next summer, and Manchester United are reportedly eyeing Adam Wharton as one of their targets for a midfield rebuild next summer.
