Cristiano Ronaldo expresses gratitude to Donald Trump for the warm welcome at the White House.
Cristiano Ronaldo, the renowned Portuguese footballer, has thanked Donald Trump for inviting him to the White House. Ronaldo expressed his appreciation for the warm reception he received from Trump and the First Lady, alongside the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman.
In a heartfelt post on social media, Ronaldo wrote, “Thank you, Mr. President, for the invitation and the warm reception you and the First Lady gave to me and my future wife. Each of us has something meaningful to offer, and I am ready to do my part as we inspire new generations to build a future defined by courage, responsibility, and lasting peace.”
Ronaldo’s visit to the White House came just two days after Portugal qualified for the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted jointly by the United States, Mexico, and Canada. This meeting also marked Ronaldo’s return to the US after more than a decade, following the resolution of a 2009 rape accusation in Nevada.
During his visit, Ronaldo attended a dinner hosted by Trump, where he met prominent figures, including Elon Musk, Tim Cook, and Gianni Infantino. Trump praised Ronaldo, saying his son Barron respects him more after meeting the football star.
As part of his visit, Ronaldo received a symbolic “Key to the Oval Office” from Trump, a rare gift given to esteemed guests. The Portuguese footballer has been promoting Saudi Arabia since joining Al Nassr in January 2023.
Ronaldo’s meeting with Trump coincides with Mohammed bin Salman’s first official visit to Washington in seven years, focusing on strengthening US-Saudi relations and discussing military cooperation.
This visit marks Ronaldo as the third Portuguese athlete to make an official visit to the White House, following marathon runner Carlos Lopes and basketball player Neemias Queta.
