Assan Ouedraogo becomes Germany’s second-youngest debut goalscorer, scoring just 2 minutes after coming on in a 6-0 win over Slovakia.
Assan Ouedraogo made an unforgettable debut for Germany, scoring just 2 minutes after coming on as a substitute in their 6-0 World Cup qualifying win over Slovakia.
At 19 years and 192 days old, Ouedraogo became the second-youngest player to score for Germany on his debut.
The RB Leipzig midfielder was originally called up to the German U21 team but was promoted to the senior squad after Nadiem Amiri withdrew due to injury. Ouedraogo’s impressive performance was a welcome addition to Germany’s squad, helping secure their spot in the 2026 World Cup.
Leroy Sane, who played alongside Ouedraogo, praised his technique and versatility, saying, “You always try to do what you can, and I managed to do that.”
The record for the youngest debut goalscorer still belongs to Klaus Stürmer, who netted in his first game for Germany in October 1954 at the age of 19 years and 68 days.
Germany’s 6-0 win over Slovakia was a dominant display, with Leroy Sane scoring twice and Nick Woltemade and Serge Gnabry also getting on the scoresheet. The victory secured Germany’s spot in the 2026 World Cup and sent Slovakia into the playoffs.
