Club set to host their first fixture at the Camp Nou in two years before the end of November
Lamine Yamal says Barcelona are on the verge of something “special” as the club prepare to return to Camp Nou later this month.
The 18-year-old winger has become one of Barcelona’s key players during the club’s redevelopment period, but he has barely featured at the stadium where so many of the club’s defining moments were made.
After making his debut in April 2023, Yamal played only a handful of minutes at Camp Nou before construction work forced the team to leave their traditional home ground.
Barcelona’s home games have largely been played at the Estadi Olympic Lluis Companys at Montjuic in the two years since then.
But the club have now been cleared by the city council to begin a phased return. Competitive fixtures are expected to resume at a reduced capacity before the end of November, while work continues on other parts of the stadium.
Last week, the club hosted an open training session to welcome fans to the partially completed venue, as a precursor to the actual reopening.
With the countdown underway, Yamal made his feelings clear in a post on Instagram, writing: “Special nights are coming,” alongside a video zooming in on the renovated ground.
Barcelona have said they expect the stadium to be completed by the end of 2026.
