German international Karim Adeyemi has been fined €450,000 for illegally possessing prohibited weapons, including a butterfly knife and brass knuckles.
Karim Adeyemi, the German national team player, has been ordered to pay a hefty fine of €450,000 for illegal possession of weapons. The Dortmund police found two prohibited weapons in his possession, leading to the fine.
The 23-year-old right winger was found to be in possession of a butterfly knife and brass knuckles, which are considered offenses under German law. The acquisition, possession, and carrying of these items are punishable by a fine or imprisonment of up to 3 years.
Under German law, the possession of brass knuckles can lead to a penalty of up to 10 years if used to commit violence. Fortunately, Adeyemi has not been accused of using the weapons for violent purposes.
Given Adeyemi’s income, the fine amounts to 60 daily rates, totaling around €450,000. The penal order became legally binding on October 30, and he will be registered in the Federal Central Register.
However, Adeyemi will not be considered to have a criminal record, as this only occurs after 90 daily fines. The Dortmund club released a statement emphasizing that they take “criminal allegations” seriously and discuss such matters with employees while maintaining confidentiality.
Adeyemi has yet to comment on the case.
