Win was Brazil’s first in three attempts against the West African side
Chelsea’s Estevao and Manchester United’s Casemiro were on target in the first half as Brazil secured a 2-0 victory over Senegal at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side started aggressively and applied most of the pressure in the first half. Matheus Cunha hit the woodwork, and Edouard Mendy was sharp to deny Vinicius and then Rodrygo as the Selecao sought their first win in three attempts against the West African side.
The breakthrough came when the impressive Casemiro drove into the centre of Senegal’s defensive third and then attempted a through ball that was deflected into the path of Estevao. The 18-year-old curled a shot beyond Mendy and into the far corner.
Brazil extended their lead seven minutes later when Rodrygo’s found Casemiro at the far post with a looping free-kick and the United player controlled beautifully before striking quickly across Mendy and into the far corner.
The win was Ancelotti’s fourth in seven games since taking charge of the Selecao in the summer.
