Robert Lewandowski says he expects clarity “soon” on what comes next in his career. The Barcelona striker is entering the final months of his contract and no agreement is yet in place regarding an extension.

The 37-year-old could leave on a free transfer next summer. Barcelona have not ruled out offering new terms to the player but no discussions have been held. Lewandowski’s camp has already dismissed the idea of a January move, maintaining he will finish the season in Catalonia.

“I’ll soon be ready to decide which path I want to take and I’ll see what my options are,” Lewandowski said. “I’m calm. I don’t know where I’ll be or what I’ll want to do in a few months. I don’t have to do anything and I’m in no hurry.”

Lewandowski has reportedly made it known privately that he would like to continue at Barcelona, and he spoke warmly about the young players emerging around him who make him want to continue playing.

“It really encourages me to know that there are so many young guys over 18 at Barcelona,” said Lewandowski. “They give me a real boost of energy.

“I feel very comfortable among them. I remember when I was a teenager and what I did at their age. I’m older than the parents of some of my teammates. They treat me like a father. It’s funny, but very positive.”

The striker has scored 108 goals since joining Barcelona in 2022 and was central to last season’s domestic treble, where he found the net 42 times across all competitions. He said the year reinforced his belief that he can still perform at the top level even as his career draws to a close.

“Last season was very successful for me. I scored a lot of goals and won several trophies, which confirms that my level of play was very high,” said the Poland captain.

“My career is nearing its end, but while I’m still playing football, I want to make the most of it, not only in sporting terms but also emotionally. I want to enjoy the moment and get the most out of it.”
