Centre-back has struggled with injuries since tearing his ACL in 2023

Aston Villa defender Tyrone Mings is set for another long spell on the sidelines after suffering a serious hamstring injury during the 2-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield.

The centre-back was subbed on in the second half but pulled up in stoppage time holding the back of his right leg. Scans this week confirmed he will be unavailable until at least early 2026, ruling him out for a minimum of seven weeks.

In his absence, manager Unai Emery is expected to continue with Pau Torres and Ezri Konsa as his preferred central defensive pairing, while summer signing Victor Lindelof is likely to see more minutes in rotation.

Mings had only recently returned to full fitness after a series of injury setbacks over the past two seasons.

The England international has struggled with injuries since tearing his anterior cruciate ligament and then missing nearly the entire 2023-24 season. He has featured six times in the Premier League this term and made one appearance in the Europa League.

Since the start of last season, he has played just 31 matches across all competitions due to recurring fitness issues.
