Arsenal extended their winning streak to 10 matches with 3-0 win over Slavia Prague, matching the club record for consecutive clean sheets.
Arsenal comfortably beat Slavia Prague 3-0 in the league phase of the Champions League, extending their winning run to 10 matches in all competitions. Mikel Merino scored twice, deputizing as a makeshift striker in place of injured Viktor Gyokeres.
The Gunners’ opening goal came in the 32nd minute, when Bukayo Saka converted a penalty awarded after Lukas Provod’s handball. Saka drilled the ball into the bottom corner, putting Arsenal ahead. They dominated possession but struggled to break down Slavia’s defense in the first half.
However, Arsenal started the second half strongly, doubling their lead seconds after the restart. Merino volleyed Leandro Trossard’s cross into the bottom corner to make it 2-0. He added his second in the 68th minute, rising to meet Declan Rice’s cross as Slavia’s keeper Jakub Markovic failed to collect the ball.
15-year-old Max Dowman also made history by becoming the youngest player to feature in the Champions League. Dowman came on as a substitute for Trossard, breaking the record set by Youssoufa Moukoko in 2020.
Slavia Prague had opportunities, but Arsenal’s defense held strong. A late penalty appeal was overturned by VAR, securing the Gunners’ eighth consecutive clean sheet, a club record matching the 1903 feat.
The victory maintains Arsenal’s perfect start to the season, with four wins from four Champions League matches. They’ve extended their unbeaten run to 13 matches in all competitions, solidifying their position as Premier League leaders.
