Borussia Dortmund coach Niko Kovac expects Nico Schlotterbeck and Niklas Süle to return for Wednesday’s Champions League away game against Manchester City.

Borussia Dortmund is set to welcome back two key players for their crucial Champions League clash against Manchester City on Wednesday.

Niko Kovac, Borussia Dortmund’s coach, is optimistic that centre-backs Nico Schlotterbeck and Niklas Süle will be available for the away game at the Etihad Stadium.

Schlotterbeck and Süle missed Dortmund’s 1-0 Bundesliga win over Augsburg on Friday due to illness and a swollen toe, respectively. However, according to reports, both players are expected to make a return to the squad.

Schlotterbeck will undergo individual training on Monday, with plans to join the team’s final training session on Tuesday. Provided there are no setbacks, he is likely to start at the Etihad Stadium, playing a crucial role in containing Manchester City’s attacking threats, including former Dortmund striker Erling Haaland.

Süle’s return will also be a significant boost to Dortmund’s defense, which has been solid but not spectacular in recent matches.

Dortmund’s recent form has been impressive, with a 1-0 win over Augsburg serving as a warm-up for the Manchester City clash. The team will look to build on this momentum and secure a positive result in England.
