Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca says he’s satisfied with 1-0 win at Tottenham, but wants more from his players in possession.
Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca was pleased with his team’s 1-0 win at Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday night, thanks to Joao Pedro’s first-half strike.
Maresca highlighted the importance of the clean sheet, saying it’s something Chelsea needs to build on for the future.
“We know we’re a team that scores goals, but we need to do better defensively,” Maresca said. He’s happy with Chelsea’s performance, both on and off the ball, particularly their pressing game.
Maresca praised Chelsea’s defensive solidity, saying it’s crucial for their title ambitions. “You need to be defensively solid if you want to be close to the top,” he added.
The Chelsea boss is also pleased with Joao Pedro’s contribution, saying he’s a good player who’s going to score goals. However, Pedro’s training schedule has been affected by some problems, which Maresca is trying to manage.
Maresca wants more from his players in possession, indicating there’s room for improvement. Chelsea’s attacking prowess is evident, but they need to work on conceding fewer goals.
The win has propelled Chelsea back into the top four of the Premier League, and Maresca’s satisfaction is understandable. However, he’s focused on continuous improvement, pushing his players to be better.
