Arsenal secured a 2-0 win over Burnley, stretching their lead at the Premier League summit to seven points with a dominant display.

Arsenal secured a convincing 2-0 victory over Burnley, extending their lead at the top of the Premier League table to seven points. The Gunners’ phenomenal record against newly-promoted opposition continues, with 24 wins from 25 games.

The Clarets knew they faced a tough challenge, and Arsenal’s threat from set plays proved too much. A deep corner led to Viktor Gyökeres’ simple header, and the game was effectively over within 15 minutes. Burnley’s struggles continued, with Maxime Estève’s defensive mix-up allowing Bukayo Saka a clear run at goal, but Martin Dúbravka made a crucial save.

Arsenal dominated the first half, with Leandro Trossard setting up Declan Rice’s header for the second goal. Mikel Arteta’s decision to withdraw Gyökeres at halftime was welcomed by Burnley boss Scott Parker, but the hosts failed to capitalize, attempting no shots in the first 70 minutes.

Burnley’s first sight of goal came in the 73rd minute, but Florentino’s header was kept out. The Clarets were fortunate not to concede again, with Ethan Nwaneri’s effort going inches wide. Arsenal’s dominance was evident, and they secured a well-deserved victory.

The win gives the Gunners more speed in the title race, as they are seven points clear of Bournemouth, who play later.
