Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich describes the team’s 3-0 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach as ‘a game of patience.’

Bayern Munich maintained their perfect record this season with a 3-0 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach at Borussia-Park on Saturday, but they were made to work hard for it.

Despite Gladbach being reduced to ten men early on after Jens Castrop’s dismissal, Bayern had to wait until the 64th minute before Joshua Kimmich finally broke the deadlock.

Kimmich, who scored Bayern’s first goal, reflected on the victory afterwards, describing the match as “a game of patience”. “At the beginning, my impression was Gladbach wanted to press high,” Kimmich said. “They had ambitious plans, they were bold and got off to a decent start.”

However, Gladbach’s early dismissal changed the dynamics of the game, and they sat deep, making it difficult for Bayern to break through. Kimmich emphasized the importance of patience in the game, saying, “We knew we had to stay calm and patient.”

Bayern’s 13 competitive victories at the start of the season are no coincidence, according to Kimmich. “It’s the reward for hard work, consistent training and a clear structure in the team,” he said. “We have a really good team, you can see the lads who come on are ready immediately.”

Kimmich praised the team’s homogeneity and the players’ willingness to work for each other. “Our team is very homogenous, without everything being all sunshine and roses,” he said. “It’s about performance, everyone wants to assert themselves, but we all do it for the team.”

Bayern will aim to extend their flawless run when they face 1. FC Köln in the DFB-Pokal on Wednesday.
