Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca says he’s not sure Enzo Fernandez will be available for Chelsea’s Champions League clash against Ajax.

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has provided a worrying injury update on Enzo Fernandez, admitting he doesn’t know if the midfielder will be available for Wednesday’s Champions League clash against Ajax.

Fernandez returned early from international duty due to swelling on his knee and missed Chelsea’s 3-0 win against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Fernandez has played a key role for the Blues this season, and his absence was felt in the first half against Nottingham Forest.

Chelsea struggled in the first half with Romeo Lavia and Malo Gusto in midfield, but the introduction of Moises Caicedo at the break made a huge difference.

“We are not able to say if he is available for Ajax,” Maresca said, revealing the uncertainty surrounding Fernandez’s injury. The Chelsea manager’s comments have raised concerns about Fernandez’s availability for the Champions League match.

Fernandez’s absence would be a significant blow to Chelsea, who have relied on him heavily this season. The midfielder has been instrumental in the team’s performances, and his absence would leave a gap in the team.

Chelsea will be hoping Fernandez isn’t out for long, as the games come thick and fast between now and the November international break. The team has a busy schedule ahead, and Fernandez’s availability would be a major boost.
