Although Chelsea came out 3-0 winners in their latest Premier League match, they were bamboozled in the first half. 

Chelsea needed a win to return within touching distance of Arsenal who top the table and keep up any conversation of contending for the title. They did in fact win 3-0 but it was a game of two halves.

In the first half, they were outclassed by Nottingham Forest.  They were lucky to not end that half two or three goals down. Maresca’s setup was questionable and Forest almost made them pay. 

Chelsea gave away the ball at the back and Forest failed to punish them. Morgan Gibbs-White failed to score from close range and Awoniyi’s shot just failed to stay on target.

Chelsea started without Caicedo and they lost the midfield. As Forest kept missing chances, you couldn’t hide the feeling that Chelsea would make them pay and they did in the second half. 

Chelsea made three changes, came out all guns blazing and in the space of 7 minutes later, they were 2 goals up. 

Chelsea took the lead through Josh Acheampong who headed in from a Pedro Neto cross. For Acheampong, it was emotional as it marked his first goal in Chelsea colors.  

In quick time,  Chelsea had another. This time, Pedro Neto was the scorer. Reece James rolled the ball from a free-kick and Neto shot it into the net to make it a comfortable 2-0 lead.

Forest had chances to get on the scoresheet but it just wasn’t their day. Sangare came close but the moment that summarized Forest’s performance in front of goal was when Ndoye hit the bar from close range. Williams also had two chances to register a goal for his team but he couldn’t make it stick.

Chelsea closed out the game with a goal from Reece James,  making it 3-0 in their favor. A Chelsea game isn’t complete without a red card and Malo Gusto kept the tradition alive after getting sent off for a second yellow. 

There were talks during the game about Postecoglou getting sacked and few minutes after full-time,  Forest confirmed on their X handle that they have sacked their man
