Fabio Paratici rejoins Tottenham Hotspur as sporting director after serving a 30-month FIFA ban.

Fabio Paratici has officially returned to Tottenham Hotspur as a sporting director. The Italian executive had been serving a 30-month ban imposed by FIFA, stemming from his involvement in transfer deals and finances during his tenure at Juventus.

Paratici’s ban was initially imposed by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) and later extended by FIFA, leading to his resignation as Spurs’ managing director of football in April 2023. Despite denying wrongdoing, he was forced to serve the ban, which ended earlier this summer.

Upon his return, Paratici will partner with Johan Lange, who has been promoted to sporting director, to drive Tottenham’s football strategy. The duo aims to build a winning team and create a connected football ecosystem, with Paratici expressing his delight at rejoining the club he loves.

“I’m delighted to be returning to a club that I love,” Paratici said. “I now look forward to returning to London and joining the team full-time. I’m convinced that working in partnership with Johan, we can build a special future for the club and our supporters.”

This development is part of Tottenham’s continued investment in world-class football structures, designed to deliver sustained on-pitch success. The club is also recruiting a director of football operations to support Paratici and Lange in their roles.

Tottenham’s CEO, Vinai Venkatesham, praised the duo, stating that they are “exceptional leaders” with complementary expertise and strong track records. Tottenham will look to build a system that can complement Thomas Frank’s success since he joined the club and also push them to break new grounds.
