Despite going behind in the first, Chelsea fought to see out a 2-1 win against Lincoln City.

It wasn’t the best game for Chelsea this season, but they struggled to see out a 2-1 win against Lincoln City in the EFL Cup.

Chelsea started off slowly and were almost behind early in the game as Lincoln City had a shot that smacked the upright. For a team that started poorly in the loss to Manchester United, the Blues didn’t look like they had learnt from their mistakes.

In the first half, they were limited by Lincoln City, and eventually, they were pegged back on the verge of halftime as a defensive error from Enzo and Chalobah set Street through on goal, and he passed the ball past Jorgensen, into the back of the net.

In the second half, however, Chelsea looked like the World Champions they are as they scored two quick-fire goals to come back 2-1. Tyrique George’s strike in the 48th minute pulled them level. He then turned provider in the 50th minute for Facundo Buonanotte, who wriggled his way through the Lincoln City defence to put the Blues ahead.

Chelsea had to weather a few attacks from the League One side, and to a large extent, they were lucky to get away with a win. Jorgensen was underwhelming in goal, and the Chelsea defence was caught lacking a few times, but at full-time, Maresca and the team could heave a sigh of relief as they progressed to the next round.
