Club sources say there are no discussions over the Brazil international’s future

Real Madrid have denied that a meeting took place this week between Vinicius Junior’s representatives and the club’s sporting directors, despite reports in Spain suggesting discussions were held at Valdebebas.

Stories emerged on Monday claiming that Vinicius’s agent, Frederico Pena, met with Madrid’s general director Jose Angel Sanchez and head of international football Juni Calafat for over two hours to discuss the Brazilian’s situation.

The alleged talks were said to have followed the forward’s controversial reaction to being substituted in Saturday’s win over Espanyol.

The club, however, insist there was no such meeting, describing Pena’s presence at Valdebebas as routine, according to Mundo Deportivo.

Further sources at Madrid said the agent visits every few weeks as he represents several players currently at the club, not only Vinicius.

The 25-year-old forward has yet to complete a full 90 minutes under new coach Xabi Alonso, either being substituted or starting from the bench in 12 games since the Spaniard took over from Carlo Ancelotti last summer.

That trend, combined with ongoing rumours about his salary, has kept speculation alive around his future at the Bernabeu.

Vinicius is currently earning around €15m per season and sources close to the situation indicate his camp would like payment closer to Kylian Mbappe’s.

While Mbappe’s basic salary matches Vinicius’s, his deal also includes a signing bonus worth €40m spread across five years, effectively raising his annual income to about €23m.

However, reports from the club in recent weeks have been that there is nothing new regarding the Brazilian’s future. His contract runs until June 2027 and negotiations over any renewal are not thought to be on the agenda.
