Bayer Leverkusen coach Kasper Hjulmand hails Alejandro Grimaldo’s free-kick goal in the Champions League draw with FC Copenhagen as ‘world-class’ and ‘absolutely crazy’.

Bayer Leverkusen coach Kasper Hjulmand was full of praise for Alejandro Grimaldo after the Spain international scored a stunning free-kick goal in Thursday’s Champions League game against FC Copenhagen. Grimaldo’s goal helped Leverkusen secure a 2-2 draw in a hectic match, showcasing his exceptional skill and precision.

Hjulmand described Grimaldo’s free-kick ability as “world-class” and “absolutely crazy”. The coach was impressed by Grimaldo’s determination and focus, noting that he was frustrated when he missed a free-kick opportunity in the first half. “He just sees the goal,” Hjulmand said, highlighting Grimaldo’s exceptional vision and technique.

This isn’t the first time Grimaldo has showcased his free-kick prowess. In Bayer Leverkusen’s 3-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt, Grimaldo scored two direct free-kick goals, marking the Bundesliga’s first such “doppelpack” in 11 years.

Despite the draw, Hjulmand was pleased with his team’s performance, acknowledging that there’s still plenty of work to be done. “At the end of the day, I think we should be satisfied with the point and move on,” he said. “We are still learning what we can do with this group of new players. It’s a new team.”

The Danish coach praised his team’s character, noting that they showed resilience in coming back from being behind twice in the match. “Today, we showed some character again. Being behind twice here in Parken is difficult. So we take the point and move on.”
