Bayer Leverkusen came from behind to hold FC Copenhagen to a 2-2 draw in their Champions League opener.

Bayer Leverkusen snatched a point in their Champions League opener, holding FC Copenhagen to a 2-2 draw at Parken Stadium. The match saw plenty of action, with Copenhagen taking the lead in the ninth minute through Jordan Larsson’s controlled half-volley following Elias Achouri’s cross.

However, Bayer Leverkusen equalized in the 82nd minute through Alex Grimaldo’s superb 25-yard free-kick, which curled over the wall into the top corner.

Copenhagen thought they had won the match when substitute Robert Silva restored their lead in the 86th minute with a diving header when unmarked six yards out. But Leverkusen’s persistence paid off, and Pantelis Hatzidiakos scored an own goal in the 91st minute to salvage a point for the visitors.

The draw was a fair result, considering both teams’ performances. Bayer Leverkusen’s new coach, Kasper Hjulmand, will be pleased with his team’s resilience, while Copenhagen will be disappointed to have thrown away a lead. The match marked a good start to the Champions League campaign for both teams.
