No Southgate or Tuchel! Erik Ten Hag To Continue As Manager Of Manchester United Next Season As Board Okays Stay

Multiple inside sources have confirmed that Erik Ten Hag will continue as manager of Manchester United following a post-season review by the club’s board and both parties are now talking about extending his contract.

Ten Hag, whose contract ends at the end of next season, was a candidate for the sack following Man Utd’s poor form in the premier league last season but a spirited display against Manchester City in the FA cup final at Wembley earned Ten Hag a second chance.

The 2-1 victory against United’s neighbors did not just earn the 54-year-old Dutchman a trophy, it also threw Man Utd back in the Europa league as the Red Devil risked missing out on Europe after finishing 8th on the log.

The manager, who has been on holiday with his family in Ibiza, is understood to have been left frustrated with how long the process was taking but the United hierarchy were careful to take their take their time and make a decision that was best for the club. This was especially important considering the new ownership structure at the club.

Meanwhile, there were rumours earlier that former Bayern Munich and Chelsea boss, Thomas Tuchel could take the job after reports of discussions between him and Man Utd’s new co-owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe but Tuchel distanced himself from the job.

Graham Potter, Thomas Frank, Roberto de Zerbi and current England boss Gareth Southgate were also linked with the job, although Brentford were never contacted about Frank and appointing Southgate this summer was impossible due to his commitments with England.

Ten Hag is now set to continue after taking over from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the summer of 2022 and has an EFL cup and FA Cup to his name so far.
