Juventus coach Igor Tudor admits his team ‘cannot carry on like this’ after a 4-4 draw against Borussia Dortmund, citing concerns over the team’s defensive frailties and player fatigue.

Igor Tudor has expressed concerns about his team’s performance after a thrilling 4-4 draw against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.

Tudor believes that Juventus cannot continue to play like this, conceding too many goals and relying on individual brilliance to salvage points. “We are conceding too many, at least we’re scoring a lot too, but we cannot carry on like this,” Tudor said in a post-match conference.

The match was a chaotic affair, with Juventus coming from 4-2 down to score twice in stoppages and secure a draw. Tudor praised the team’s heart and determination, but criticised the defensive frailties that cost them dearly. “We conceded the goals too cheaply, they were avoidable situations,” Tudor noted.

Tudor also spoke on the issue of player fatigue, given the team’s busy schedule. Juventus played a tough match against Inter just three days before the Borussia Dortmund game, and Tudor believes this took its toll on his players. “There were players who were exhausted,” Tudor said, pointing out that some players, like Kenan Yildiz and Khephren Thuram, looked drained.

Despite the challenges, Tudor was pleased with the impact of his substitutes, particularly Dusan Vlahovic, who scored twice and provided an assist for Lloyd Kelly’s goal. “The substitutes become crucial,” Tudor said.

Tudor also spoke on the importance of squad rotation, given the congested fixture list. “When you play every three days and have five substitutions, there are no first-choice players; everyone is important,” Tudor said. He believes that all players need to be prepared to contribute, whether they start or come off the bench.

The Juventus coach was also pleased with the team’s attacking prowess, noting that they have scored eight goals in two games. “The team spirit and desire to work hard is the starting point you need to build on,” Tudor concluded.

Juventus will look to regroup and address their defensive issues ahead of their next match. Despite the concerns, Tudor is proud of his team’s determination and fighting spirit, which will be crucial in the challenges ahead.
