Borussia Dortmund’s Serhou Guirassy sets a new record with his eighth consecutive Bundesliga match goal, surpassing Robert Lewandowski’s feat.
Borussia Dortmund’s star striker, Serhou Guirassy, has been on fire, and his latest performance has cemented his place in the record books. Guirassy netted the opening goal in Dortmund’s 2-0 victory over 10-man Heidenheim, marking his eighth consecutive Bundesliga match with a goal. This impressive streak has seen him outperform Borussia Dortmund’s legendary former forward Robert Lewandowski.
According to Opta, Guirassy’s strike set a new record for non-German players in Bundesliga history.
Only Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, with 10 consecutive matches, and Robert Lewandowski, who achieved this feat four times with a longest streak of 15 consecutive matches, have enjoyed longer scoring runs. Notably, both Aubameyang and Lewandowski have worn the Dortmund shirt earlier in their careers.
Guirassy’s goal saw him head in a pinpoint cross from Julian Ryerson in the 33rd minute. Maximilian Beier sealed the victory for Dortmund in stoppage time, ensuring the team stayed in touch with league leaders Bayern Munich. Despite Bayern’s two-point lead, Dortmund remains a strong contender for the title, having won all three of their opening matches.
The 29-year-old Guirassy has been in exceptional form, scoring eight goals in his past eight Bundesliga games.
He has only failed to score in two of his past 15 matches for Dortmund in all competitions, racking up an impressive 18 goals in the process. Guirassy’s consistency and goal-scoring ability make him a vital player for Dortmund’s success this season.
