Ademola Lookman is expected to return to Atalanta’s training ground after a tumultuous summer.

Ademola Lookman is set to make his return to Atalanta’s training ground today. After a challenging summer filled with transfer speculation, particularly regarding a potential move to Inter Milan, Lookman has reportedly ended his pursuit of a transfer and will rejoin his teammates.

This development comes as Atalanta prepares for their upcoming Serie A match against Lecce on Sunday.

The Nigerian striker’s absence from the team was a result of his attempt to force a move to Inter Milan, which ultimately fell through due to Atalanta’s valuation of €50 million, surpassing Inter’s final offer of €45 million. Despite his public statements accusing the club of “broken promises” and “poor treatment,” Atalanta seems willing to put the past behind them and welcome Lookman back into the fold.

Lookman’s return to training is significant, especially considering he hasn’t yet worked under new coach Ivan Juric.

His fitness levels and availability for the match against Lecce on Sunday remain uncertain. However, with Atalanta’s upcoming fixtures, including a Champions League match against Paris Saint-Germain, Lookman’s role could be crucial in the team’s success.

The Nigerian forward’s contract with Atalanta expires in June 2027, and there’s speculation about his potential departure in the future. Juventus is reportedly interested in signing Lookman as a replacement for Dusan Vlahovic, and Atalanta’s valuation of the player stands at around €70 million, which would make him the second-most expensive sale in the club’s history if he departs.
