Midfielder could miss first clásico of the season on 26 October
Jude Bellingham is set to rejoin training with Real Madrid next week after being sidelined due to shoulder surgery.
The England international has not featured since undergoing an operation in July to correct a long-standing problem first sustained in November 2023.
He played through discomfort for much of the past two years, delaying surgery so that he could stay available for Real Madrid. Bellingham eventually made the decision to address the issue following Madrid’s exit from the Club World Cup.
Spanish outlet Marca reports that Bellingham will return to the training pitch on Monday as he works towards full fitness.
The midfielder is still expected to miss at least the first eight La Liga fixtures and the opening matches of the Champions League’s group phase, which means that he could miss the first clásico of the season on 26 October.
Bellingham’s absence has left a sizeable gap in Xabi Alonso’s midfield, though Madrid have managed the opening weeks of the campaign with Federico Valverde and Arda Guler.
